STOP REHEARSING WHAT YOU’VE ALREADY GIVEN TO GOD

Good morning, A-Tall-Order family! ☀️☕🙏

Have you ever prayed about something, told God you were giving it completely to Him…

…and then spent the next three hours thinking about it?

And thinking about it.

And thinking about it some more.

Maybe even rehearsing conversations that haven’t happened yet—with excellent arguments, I might add. 😂

We can physically put something down while still carrying it around in our minds.

We replay what somebody said.

We revisit what we should’ve said.

We imagine what might happen.

We create Plan A, B, C…and an emergency Plan Q just in case God needs our assistance. 😂☕

But surrender isn’t only about what we’re willing to release from our hands.

Sometimes surrender is about what we’re willing to stop rehearsing in our heads.

📖 “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” — Isaiah 26:3 KJV

Notice where that peace begins:

The mind.

Maybe the situation hasn’t changed.

Maybe you still don’t know the answer.

Maybe the conversation still needs to happen.

Maybe you’re still waiting.

But you don’t have to give that situation unlimited access to your thoughts.

When it comes back to your mind today, you can pray: “God, we’ve already talked about this. I still trust You.”

Then redirect your thoughts. Read Scripture. Take a walk. Call somebody. Work on something productive. Play with the dog.

Drink the coffee before you forget where you put it. 😂☕

Whatever you do, don’t confuse repeatedly worrying about something with actively solving it. They are not the same thing.

There are situations that require action.

Take the action God gives you to take.

But after you’ve done what you can—

stop holding imaginary meetings about it in your head. 😆

You don’t have to solve tonight what God hasn’t asked you to solve today.

You don’t have to predict somebody else’s decisions.

You don’t have to rehearse every possible outcome.

You don’t have to understand how God is going to handle what you’ve entrusted to Him.

Today, surrender may sound less like:

“God, I give this to You.”

And more like:

“God, I’m going to stop thinking about this like it still belongs to me.”

That’s surrender too. 💙

Okay, A-Tall-Order family, we’re doing a little mental housekeeping today. 🧹😂💙

Here’s the question: What is ONE thought you need to stop rehearsing and start surrendering?

You don’t have to share the whole story.

Maybe it’s:

😟 “What if something goes wrong?”

❤️ “What are they going to do?”

💵 “How will this work financially?”

🚪 “What if the door doesn’t open?”

⏳ “Why is this taking so long?”

📞 Replaying a conversation

😔 Something you wish you’d done differently

❓ Trying to figure out an answer God hasn’t given yet

🌱 Worrying about your next step

🙏 Something you’ve already prayed about 100 times

Finish this sentence:

“God, I’m done rehearsing ______. I’m trusting You with it.”

One word is enough.

Then find somebody else’s comment and leave them a ❤️ or 🙏.

No advice.

No fixing.

No telling somebody how their situation will turn out.

Just stand with them.

And here’s our Surrender Saturday challenge:

WHEN IT COMES BACK, DON’T REHEARSE IT—RETURN IT.

Every time that worry tries to restart the meeting in your head, 😂 simply say:

“God, we’ve already talked about this. I still trust You.”

Then move your attention somewhere healthy.

You may have to do it twice.

Or twenty times.

That’s okay.

Keep returning it.

Less rehearsing.

More trusting.

Quieter thoughts.

Open hands.

Abby

Faithful God. 💙🙏

Faith. Love. Purpose. 💙
